In this tutorial, I will be demonstrating a number of ways to fix the problem of 100% disk usage in Windows, especially Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Some typical signs of this problem include an obvious slowdown in the overall performance of your windows, system lags, unresponsive apps and processes, disk utilization percentage nearing or consistently on 100%, unusually loud noise from the cooling fan as if your processor or graphics card is under extreme use. The following suggestions were covered in this video:

1. Disable Windows Search Service
2. Check your disk defragmentation configuration
3. Update your device drivers
4. Disable Superfetch
5. Reset Virtual Memory
6. Check the configuration of your AHCI PCIe
7. Disable Windows Update Service
8. Disable Automatic Windows Update Service:

If everything fails, you might consider backing up your files and reinstalling Windows. If you set to do that, you can check the procedure I showed in this video:
on how to back up your files before installing a fresh copy of Windows.

Robert Padrinao Jr June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

The reason why I am experiencing a 100% disk usage because of winrar extracting files. T_T

Radek Hornik June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

I'm so glad i used to grow with this: Windows XP

Radurty June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

Thank you so much!!!!! Disabling Superfetch (sysmain) did it for me 🥰🥰🥰

Milenko Manojlovic June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

Tried every possible solutions – all of this is temporary fix only. Every time I restart win 10 I need to wait 10 min for computer to start responding properly. Computer is slow that even Atari is faster – this beyond ridiculous. Opening a web page take 3 min for first page to load properly

Yellowstone The Pony June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

none of these worked. guess I can throw away my computer now…

Tekartha June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

Just a heads up to anyone, my "superfetch" was named "SysMain"

Nathan Baldo June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

Witty White June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

Acoustic Man June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

Another way to free up space is to delete System32.

Prateek Panwar June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

I think it's happening to Hard drive users. Is there any SSD user here?
Edit: Another thing is disable diagnostics data

75Franco June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

I went through pretty much all of these to no avail and even tried a few other vids/google searches.

What has worked – so far at least – was a far simpler solution: checking for a loose cable. After disconnecting/reconnecting the power and sata cables and making sure everything else was snug, everything's back to normal. No idea how prevalent this might be, but might be worth a look just in case; stuff can jiggle loose over time!

Doubt you want to update your video now(!), but just thought I'd mention it in case it's of help to anyone perhaps stumbling over my comment!

Darkside2205 June 29, 2020 at 11:18 pm

I did notice it always seemed to be superfetch causing it. Thanks for the video my laptop is faster night and day difference man.
